Vigilance Bureau to assist district admin to contain covid-19
Vigilance officers instructed to keep check on hoarding, black marketing of essential goods
Chandigarh: The pandemic of COVID-19 has today emerged as biggest public health emergency of global concern. Government of Punjab, under leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, is taking all necessary steps including imposition of curfew to contain transmission of its dangerous virus.
Therefore, in view of prevailing situation, understanding the fact that district administration is hard pressed for resources, Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau BK Uppal has directed all vigilance bureau officers to tie up with district administration and district police and to offer all cooperation and assistance.
A spokesperson of Vigilance bureau revealed that acting on the directions of VB Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau SSPs have already written demi official letters to respective Deputy Commissioners and district police heads, offering them all their all assistance and cooperation.
Additionally, BK Uppal has also directed its officers to keep a check on hoarding or black marketing of essential goods and on intentional irregularities in implementing govt. measures against COVID-19. It is pertinent to mention that, Vigilance Bureau officials have already decided to contribute their one day salary to CM’s Relief Fund.
