Vigilance registers bribery case against three police personnel, Two arrested
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Friday, registered a bribery case against two Assitant Sub Inspectors (ASI) and a lady Punjab Home Guard (PHG) volunteer out of which two police personnel accused have been arrested.
Ludhiana, September 9, 2022: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing campaign against corruption on Friday, registered a bribery case against two Assitant Sub Inspectors (ASI) and a lady Punjab Home Guard (PHG) volunteer out of which two police personnel accused have been arrested.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the Bureau has registered a case FIR no: 12 dated 9.9.22 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Ludhiana against ASI Tejinder Singh (922/Ldh), ASI Nasib Singh (2212/Ldh) and Lady PHG Jyoti (No 16240) all posted at police post Bus Stand Ludhiana on the complaint of Manjit of village Kasandi in Sonipat district, Haryana. In this case ASI Tejinder Singh and Lady PHG Jyoti have been arrested on the basis of an enquiry.
Giving more details of this case he informed that complainant Maniit filed a plaint on Punjab Anti Curuption Helpline and informed that he was arrested in case FIR 45/19 us 420,467 , 468, 471, 120 B of IPC at police station Div 5, Ludhiana. In this case there are about 35 more co accused.
In his complaint Manjit added that he had joined the Army on fake address and caste certificate as as Rajput but he is from Jat caste. After getting bail from the court in this police case the complaint has approached ASI Tejinder Singh to submit challan of his case in court who had taken 20,000 in instalments from him in this regard.
The complaint has further submitted that on 11.7.22 PHG Jyoti called him and demanded Rs 20,000 more to help him in this case but the deal was struck at Rs 15000. During conversation he recorded her call as evidence.
The complainant has added that on 12.9.22 he has met PHG Jyoti who demanded Rs 15000 as bribe but he refused. There after on the same day ASI Tejinder Singh and ASI Nasib Singh has took bribe from him 500 each and the complaint made video recording of this also.
The spokesperson further informed that during the enquiry the facts in the complaint were found as true and above mentioned case has been registered against all the accused.
He added that out of three accused 2 police personnel ASI Tejinder Singh and Lady PHG Jyoti have been arrested. Further investigation in this case is under progress.
