Vigilance Team seizes cash from professors in Kangra District
Acting on a tip-off, a Vigilance team apprehended a car with a Punjab registration under the jurisdiction of Rakkad Police Station in Kangra district last evening. The vehicle was occupied by two professors from different universities in Punjab—one resident of Faridkot and another, a resident of Barnala. During the search, the team recovered cash amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh from the duo.
Dharamshala, August 10, 2024: Acting on a tip-off, a Vigilance team apprehended a car with a Punjab registration under the jurisdiction of Rakkad Police Station in Kangra district last evening. The vehicle was occupied by two professors from different universities in Punjab—one resident of Faridkot and another, a resident of Barnala. During the search, the team recovered cash amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh from the duo.
During initial questioning, neither professor could provide a satisfactory explanation for the large sum of money found in their possession.
The Vigilance Department has filed a case against the two professors at the Dharamshala Police Station under Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The investigation is ongoing.
