Villages situated on the banks of Sutlej should guard it- Sant Seechewal 

Ludhiana, June 16, 2024: Rajya Sabha member and environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal invited the villages situated on the banks of Sutlej river to protect the river. He was addressing the martyrdom day celebrations of Shri Guru Arjan Dev ji held at village Khasi Kala in Ludhiana district today. 

He said that during the first phase of karseva of Budha Dariya, saplings are being planted to make it green. He said that the process of planting saplings will be accelerated during the rainy season.

Sant Seechewal checks working of CETPs

Environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal also checked the working of 40mld and 50 mld CETPs on Tajpur road and shared the information regarding the same with the Chairman of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB).

Paying tribute to unmatched martyrdom of Shri Guru Arjan Dev ji, Sant Seechewal said that planting trees is very important to get rid of the increasing global warming. 

Referring to the effect of climate change, Sant Seechewal said that 310 districts of the country have come under its effect, due to which the agriculture of the country is getting affected. 9 districts of Punjab, 8 districts of Himachal Pradesh and 11 districts of Haryana have come under the effect of climate change. 

Citing a six-year-old report of the Central Ground Water Board, Sant Seechewal said that by 2039, water in Punjab will go down to a depth of 1,000 feet. Referring to the report of Fund War Nature, he said that the 30 cities of the country that will face water crisis by 2050 include Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Chandigarh.
Sant Baba Bhagat Singh, the chief sevadar of Gurdwara Dhakki Sahib, took the responsibility of taking care of the plants being planted on the banks of Budha Dariya and said that ever since the campaign to clean Buddha Dariya has been launched under the leadership of Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, there has been some relief from pollution. He appealed to the devotees to adopt plants on the banks of the river. 

He said that the heat we are feeling today will reduce with the increase in the number of trees in Punjab, due to which more rain will start.
