VIR BHADRA: No new private university to be allowed in Himachal

Dharamsala, March 4, 2013: “Himachal government shall not give any fresh permission to any private university in the state,” said Chief Minister Vir Bhadra Singh at Dharamsala on Monday.

Talking to this Correspondent he said, “A committee has been constituted to find out the irregularities in the working or the allotment of private universities opened during the BJP regime and government shall deal strictly if found guilty.”

He said that the report of the committee is awaited.

Singh said, “As a Central university is being coming up at Dharamsala, there is no need of any extension study division of Himachal University in Dharamsala, and the government has asked the Himachal  University Shimla to submit a report over it.”

Regarding the setting up of the Central University he said, “As soon as the clearance of the Ministry of Environment is done over the land issue, the foundation stone of the Central University shall be laid.” The University was allotted to Himachal in 2007 and its temporary study center is working at Shahpur 35 kms from Dharamsala

He said that no new medical or engineering collage shall come up in the government sector in Himachal, as the government is keen to provide all the necessary infrastructure to the already working institutes in the state, before going in for the new one.

Vir Bhadra today laid the foundation stone of Rs. 4 crore secrecy branch of Himachal Education Board at Dharamsala.
