Virtual celebration of animation day at GNA University
The Registrar Dr. RK Mahajan praised the diligent efforts of all the students
Jalandhar: Faculty of Animation and Multimedia of GNA University celebrated the International Animation Day with full enthusiasm with a range of online events. The event was inaugurated with the blessings of S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro-Chancellor, GNA University. The Pro-Chancellor expressed, “GNA University is really delighted to have such events in the University which make the growth of every individual.” He even wished to have this International Animation Day 2020 a memorable & annual event.
During the inauguration, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. VK Rattan, Registrar Dr. RK Mahajan, Dean Academics Dr. Monika Hanspal and other dignitaries were also presented at the online platform. Mr. Vikram M Bhorawat Technical Specialist ARK (Foundry Nuke India) and Mr. Sahil Bajaj (Team Leader Red Chillies, VFX), were the chief guests of the event.
Leading lights of the animation, VFX and gaming industries graced the event to inspire students and share their insights. Reminiscing the Mr. Vikram M Bhorawat, childhood days and re-doing his career path, he said that animation was always his primary love and that during the initial days of his professional career 10 years back when animation was in a budding stage in India, he was hard put to make animation films despite his passion as there was little demand for the craft then. Spelling out his work ethic and citing examples from his past projects, he motivated the students to always give their best with their creativity.
Mr. Sahil Bajaj puts the spotlight on incredible career opportunities in the Industry of VFX, i.e., motion graphic artist, VFX artist and many more. Drawing from his vast experience spanning more than 10 years, he had several words of insights for VFX students. Stressing on the importance of constantly self-evaluation to improve skills, He addressed a range of FAQs including: How to get into the industry? How to stand out from the crowd? What’s the most important to build a career in VFX? And how to prosper? Thinning down to the key factor – the show reel, he belted out seven powerful ideas on crafting the perfect show reel that can help one stand out and compete for the big job. Stating that it takes time to succeed, he gave students his formula for success: Repetition> Trial> Fail> Run-through> Repeat.
Also the Department has organized a Character Design & Short Film contest with 6 competitions (Documentary, Rangoli Making, Script Writing, Photography) open for all students, prizes were distributed to the winning students. The workshop was divided into two sessions.
The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. VK Rattan aware the youth to have strong will power and take the opening which the academia will provide to blossom their character and career.

The Head of the Department, Mr. Baljit Singh congratulated and acknowledged the participation for their timely efforts and also thanked all the dignitaries for providing opportunity to the departments to host the event on online platform.
