VISIT OF CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF TO JALANDHAR CANTT

Jalandhar, January 20, 2018: General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff visited Jalandhar Cantt on 19 – 20 Jan 18 to review the security situation and the operational preparedness of the formations guarding the Western Theatre in the State of Punjab. The Chief of Army Staff was received by Lt Gen Surinder Singh, Army Cdr of Western Command and Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, Corps Commander of the prestigious Vajra Corps. Lt Gen Dushyant Singh briefed the Chief on operational preparedness as also on the security issues including to counter the proxy threat.
Punjab State continues to contribute large number of youth for enrolment in Armed Forces. In the past wars and ongoing Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K and elsewhere, number of service personnel from the State have laid down their lives in the line of duty. There are also large numbers of veterans in the region who continue to be part of larger family of the Armed Forces. Lt Gen Dushyant Singh also briefed the Chief on various outreach programmes for veterans including settling of pension issues, resettlement avenues, help lines introduced for medical support in their twilight years and other welfare measures. General and Mrs Bipin Rawat also interacted with Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers, Other Ranks and veterans during their visit.

Mrs Madhulika Rawat, President AWWA, accompanied by Mrs Surinder Singh Regional President AWWA Western Command visited Army College of Nursing, Jalandhar.
