Visit of ICCC, Chandigarh and Sector-17 Police Station
The Students, Research Scholars and Faculty of Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University visited the newly opened Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Chandigarh and Sector-17 Police Station
Chandigarh, April 14, 2022: The Students, Research Scholars and Faculty of Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University visited the newly opened Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Chandigarh and Sector-17 Police Station. The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah recently. This project has been implemented as a part of smart city mission to enhance the safety and security, improve efficiency of municipal services and promote a better quality of life for residents. In order to achieve these objectives, a robust ICT infrastructure has been created for city surveillance by installing 600 CCTV cameras at entry and exit points of the city along with other sensitive and important locations in the city. The students were exposed to the functioning of CCTV cameras and their usage specially for traffic management and identifying violations of traffic rules by the citizens. It was an eye opener for the students and they were surprised to see the quality and effectiveness of the surveillance system installed in the city. They were sensitised by the police personnel present there to observe traffic rules and inform others about the surveillance system installed in the city for better compliance of traffic rules.
Later, the students along with faculty visited the Sector -17 Police Station to get first-hand information of the working of the police. Sh. Om Prakash, SHO of Sector-17 Police Station along with staff welcomed the students and shared all information about the working of the police and showed various facilities available at the police station. The students visited the Record room, Kot, Malkhana, Lock-up, Control room etc. The students also visited Cyber Cell of Chandigarh Police and interacted with the staff of the cell.
The ICCC and Sector-17 Police Station were visited by 48 Post Graduate Students (M.A. I and M.A. II), 6 Research Scholars along with Prof. Anil Monga, Chairperson and Dr. M. Sanjeev Singh (Guest Faculty).
