Vivek High School’s Model United Nations Conference: Committee sessions start
Intrinsic committee sessions have started at Vivek High School’s Model United Nations(MUN) Conference.
Chandigarh, November 11, 2012: Intrinsic committee sessions have started at Vivek High School’s Model United Nations(MUN) Conference. Three sessions were conducted and serious discussions on various agendas were held including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, overturn of Roe Vs Wade - which was a landmark decision in which the U.S. Supreme Court, ruled that the Constitution of the United States conferred the right to have an abortion, the data protection act, the Agneepath scheme and the informal sector workers' rights.
Delegates from 9 committees which included United Nations General Assembly(UNGA), United Nations Human Rights Council(UNHRC), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR), US Senate , Lok Sabha , United Nations Security Council (UNSC), The United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS), Imperial War Cabinet (IWC) and Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) shared their views on these critical issues besides discussing how amicably to resolve the same for the welfare of the society.

In addition to this, it is an apt platform for the delegates to exchange ideas with their peers from different backgrounds and learn something new,” said Renu Puri, Principal of Vivek High School, Sector 38, Chandigarh.
The emminent speakers of the day were Dr. Geeta Sekhon a legal professional from India specializing in subjects related to Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation, Human Trafficking and Migration. The other speaker was Mr. Sanjiv Chandra. Holding 31 years of experience, he is currently the director and CEO of Maxplus Logistics Ltd.
VHS MUN's opening ceremony was held on November 10 and was marked by scintillating dance and band performances by students of Vivek High School. 250+ student delegates from all over the country representing 15+ schools are attending this mega conference.VHS MUN will be on till November 13. There are some very interesting sessions lined up for November 12 also.
