VLCC Ferozpur road centre observes ‘Anti-Obesity Day’
Creates awareness about ill effects of Obesity and related diseases Ludhiana, November 27, 2018: In its ongoing commitment towards making India healthier, VLCC, a leading Indian beauty and wellness brand, announced its free ‘Weight Loss’ program and expert consultations in the run-up to ‘Anti-Obesity Day’, which is observed every year on November 26. The objective of this endeavour is to generate awareness among consumers about the ill effects of Obesity and related diseases like Diabetes, PCOS, Hypertension, and Hypothyroidism which pose a leading risk for global deaths. To mark Anti-Obesity day, an health awareness seminar was organised at VLCC Ferozpur road centre here today, in which people took up free weight loss programme and began their journey towards wellness. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nisha Pandit spoke in detail about causes of obesity. She said obesity causes many health problems, adding what to speak of the youth even kids are suffering from the menace of obesity. She pointed out that majority of the schoolchildren are suffering from obesity by consuming fast food. On the occasion, a low calorie cooking competition was also organised. Dr Veenu Rai Dhanda, a Diet Expert, declared Yashu, Renu and Gurbaksh Kaur the first, the second and the third winner, respectively, of this competition. All was done under guidance of Center Head Surbhi Arora. A video conferencing was also done with Vandana Luthra, founder, VLCC. She said, “Obesity in India has sadly reached epidemic proportions in the 21st century, with morbid obesity affecting 5% of the country’s population. Since the inception of Anti-Obesity Day in 2001, VLCC has launched various awareness campaigns and workshops to mark the day. We introduced a new series of effective weight management services which include DNA-based weight loss program and Predictive and Preventive Health Care. Also new non-invasive body contouring procedures like Cool sculpting for effective weight management. Through these latest solutions, we have pledged to continue to work towards our endeavour to provide a holistic approach to wellness and beauty, and inspire people to be the best version of themselves. I am confident that people will come together to fight obesity and give their commitment towards leading a healthier lifestyle.” Meanwhile, to drive preventive healthcare, today yoga combined with Diet consultation was conducted at Rakh Bagh today. In the afternoon, the centre employees took out a march past from the areas such as Ferozepur road, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Mall Road, Ghumar Mandi and Aarti Chowk. Among others, the Area Head from Delhi Sushma Sharma, Center Manager Surbhi Arora, Slimming Head Shelly, Dietician Preeti, and experts Prabha and Vikas were present.
