Vocational training on preservation of seasonal fruit and vegetables
Training organised by PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar
Ludhiana: The PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar organized a vocational training on “Preservation of Seasonal Fruit and Vegetables” under the aegis of Director of Extension Education, PAU. Twelve rural women and school dropout girls actively participated in the 5-day training programme.
Dr GS Makkar, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Ropar, in his welcome remarks, congratulated all the successful trainees and apprised them of the scope of this venture through value addition of seasonal fruit and vegetables. He motivated the participants to adopt this enterprise by forming small self-help groups.
Dr Princy, Assistant Professor (Home Science), shared that participants were imparted training in the preparation of eight different value added products like chutneys, sharbat, jam, pickels etc.. She said rural women can increase their family income by adding value to the seasonal fruit and vegetables by adopting the same as an enterprise.
The concluding session was graced by Dr MP Sohu, Former Director of Research, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. Dr Sohu appreciated the role of KVK, Ropar and PAU, Ludhiana towards women empowerment through vocational trainings.
