Vocational Training “Value Addition of Horticultural Cops” at KVK, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar
Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a vocational training course on “Value addition of horticultural crops” from 15th -19th May, 2023. During this course, the concerned experts from KVK, delivered technical lectures and demonstrated various recipes regarding value addition of horticultural crops.
Ludhiana, May 22, 2023: Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a vocational training course on “Value addition of horticultural crops” from 15th -19th May, 2023. During this course, the concerned experts from KVK, delivered technical lectures and demonstrated various recipes regarding value addition of horticultural crops.
Dr. Shikha Mahajan, Assistant Professor (Home Science) delivered lectures on importance of balanced nutrition & value addition of summer fruits and vegetable crops for off season use, special care during cooking, maintenance of food hygiene and food safety methods, sale of preserved foods, marketing, branding, labeling and sale of different preserved food products as additional source for self-employment. She also elucidated different types of recipes for jams, squashes and pickles along with the importance of nutritional benefit of consuming these products in hot summer season. Mrs Renu Bala, Programme Assistant (Lab Technician) demonstrated the recipes of mango and chilli pickles, imli-shakar chutney, different types of flavoured lassi (mango, rose and chocolate), fruit jam & squashes, lemonade and aam-panna etc. Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) during his address to the trainees emphasized that these types of training courses have the potential to enhance the rural household income and assured all help for future endeavors too. The trainees were highly satisfied with the technical guidance received during the training programme and made up their mind to start/scale up their business.
