Voter awareness competition held
Ludhiana, October 29, 2021: To inculcate interest among youth to get themselves registered as voters and to disseminate information regarding the use of right to franchise under the ‘Punjab Assembly Elections-2022-Let’s celebrate democracy’ campaign, a function was organized today at Devki Devi Jain College for Women, Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana.
Sandeep Rishi IAS, Electoral Registration Officer, 63-Ludhiana Central Assembly Constituency-cum-Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA Ludhiana was the chief guest of the event.
This event was organised on the directions of Chief Election Officer, Punjab, wherein competitions in different categories such as dance, slogan creation, essay writing, mono acting, songs, poems, debates, lectures and one act play etc are being organised among students of colleges and universities at district level during the months from September to November.
Purshottam Das Joshi, SVEEP Nodal Officer-cum-District Town Planner (Regulatory) Ludhiana, Principal and teachers of the College were also present on this occasion.
The students delivered lectures on the subject of ‘Elections, Indian democracy and the people of India’. The chief guest emphasized upon the need to vote and educated about Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation Program commonly known as SVEEP, the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voters education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. The winner, first and second runner up students were awarded with trophies and certificates.
