Ludhiana, May 5, 2024: District administration conducted mass voter awareness drive in Sarabha Nagar main market and urged the residents especially the youngsters to step forward and vote for stronger democracy.
Working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney different activities including Nukkad Natak, Boliyan were performed by the teams including the members of NGO - Initiators of Change.
The awareness drive was held under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.
DEO Sakshi Sawhney said that a large number of voter awareness activities are being organised across the district.
The aim of district administration is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 per cent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar). Different activities are being conducted to spread awareness among the first time voters too.
DEO Sawhney said that the district administration and police are committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the district and the residents should cast their vote without any fear and without coming under anyone's influence.
DEO Sawhney further said that every effort is being made to facilitate the voters at the polling stations on polling days (June 1).
