Ludhiana, January 18, 2019: For strengthening of our democracy, a voter awareness programme under SVEEP activities was organised at SCD Government College, here today. This function was attended by district-level administrative officials, who sensitised the audience about the importance of voting. This function was organised by the Election Commission of India with the support of local college authorities.

College Principal Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu welcomed the audience comprising mostly college students, and made them aware about the importance of voting and urged them to get themselves registered as voters.

College Nodal Officer Prof Balwinder Kaur welcomed the audience. Nodal Officers for 064 Ludhiana (West) constituency Mr Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu and Mr Sukhwinder Singh Leel also addressed the audience.

Dr Harbilas Hira, Coordinator, District Youth Parliament, Ludhiana and Moga, also spoke on the importance of voting. College Voter Awareness Committee has also been formed, whose members include Dr Bhagwanti, Prof Harwinder Joshi and Prof Mitali Talwar, also participated in this function.

The Union government would be organising Youth Parliament on January 24, 2019 and its screening is being held from January 17-19, 2019. On the second day of screening today, students from GNN College Dakha, Khalsa College Ludhiana, SCD Government College Ludhiana and Government College for Girls Ludhiana participated.
