In an inspiring initiative aimed to encourage first-time voters to exercise their democratic rights, under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission of India, under the esteemed patronage of the District Administration of Ludhiana, organized a Voter’s Awareness Program in DMC Ludhiana to encourage first time voters to exercise their voting rights.

Ludhiana, May 29, 2024: In an inspiring initiative aimed to encourage first-time voters to exercise their democratic rights, under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission of India, under the esteemed patronage of the District Administration of Ludhiana, organized a Voter’s Awareness Program in DMC Ludhiana to encourage first time voters to exercise their voting rights.

The Voter’s Awareness Program saw enthusiastic participation from a diverse group of young citizens, marking their first step towards active electoral engagement. This unique event was held at Main Auditorium, College Campus, DMC Ludhiana with aim young participants to learn about the rich cultural heritage of Punjab along with the vital message of their voting rights, creating an immersive and educational experience for all attendees.

The event was organized by District Administration Ludhiana in coordination with Former Additional Advocate General, Nature Artist & Heritage Promoter Harpreet Sandhu with aim to create awareness for first time voters regarding the importance of their voting rights.

A significant Portrait & Brochure “Build Awareness for First Time Voters” compiled by Harpreet Sandhu giving a befitting message to young voters who will be exercising their voting right for the first time was also launched during the event by Principal Dayanand Medical College Dr. Gurpreet Wander, Pankaj Kumar, IRS Commissioner Income Tax (Election Observer ECI Ludhiana), Chetan D Kalamkar, IRS Addl. Commissioner Income Tax (Expenditure Observer Ludhiana), Major. Amit Sareen, PCS ADC Ludhiana along with the respective Doctors of DMC  
Pankaj Kumar, IRS Commissioner Income Tax (Election Observer ECI Ludhiana) urged the young voters to actively participate in Lok Sabha elections and encouraged them to exercise their right to franchise on June 1 without any fear or greed, he further educated the participants about the electoral process, the importance of each vote, and the impact of youth participation in elections.

Dr. Gurpreet Wander emphasized the need for participation of all eligible voters in the elections to uphold the democratic values and urged the youth to exercise their right to franchise. During the heritage walk, young voters were also administered an oath for ethical voting.

The event received overwhelming response and the main objective to spread the message of electoral participation reached every corner of the district. Special efforts were made to make the event accessible and informative for all, particularly targeting first-time voters.

Speaking on the occasion, Chetan D Kalamkar, Additional Commissioner Income Tax (Expenditure Observer Ludhiana) said, "This Voter Awareness Program is a step towards a brighter future, by encouraging our youth to vote, we are ensuring that our democracy remains vibrant and inclusive, she further stated that this voter awareness program was part of a broader campaign to boost voter awareness and turnout in the upcoming elections and to encourage enthusiastic voting among all age groups, especially the youth.
