VOTING FACILITY TO BE PROVIDED TO OFFICIALS DEPUTED ON ELECTION DUTY THROUGH POSTAL BALLOT/EDC
FACILITATION CENTRES TO BE SET UP FOR CASTING OF VOTE ON MAY 15 Ludhiana, May 13, 2019: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, the election staff, photographers and other private persons deputed with micro observers, police security personnel/officials and AROs have been provided facility of casting their vote using postal ballot paper/EDC. While providing information, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal stated that the forms 12/12A received during training of micro observers and forms 12 and 12 A received through AROs and forms 12 received from other districts, have been sent to concerned Assistant Returning Officers. Mr Agrawal has directed all AROs that the form 12 received from other districts till May 13, 2019, postal ballots should be issued to the voters by May 14, 2019 by post. He said that form 12 received from staff deputed with Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, SSP Ludhiana Rural or Khanna or AROs or District Headquarter, Facilitation centres should be set up for them on May 15, 2019 and postal ballots should be cast there and EDC should be issued to officials against form 12 A. He said that those forms 12 and 12 A that are not received on time, a facilitation centre for them should be set up at Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students Ludhiana on May 15. He informed that proper videography and security would be taken care of when the postal ballots are cast. At the facilitation centre, the polling by postal ballot would be cast from 10 am to 5 pm. The box containing cast postal ballots would then be brought to the office of District Revenue Officer at 5 pm on May 15, which would then be sealed in the strong room of district treasury. Mr Agrawal has directed the AROs of Khanna, Samrala, Sahnewal, Payal, Raikot (falling in Fatehgarh Sahib Parliamentary Constituency) to ensure proper arrangements for issuing EDCs in allotted rooms and facilitation centres should be set up there. He has also directed all AROs that postal ballots left on May 12 and those left on May 15 (for 9 Vidhan Sabha constituencies) after Facilitation centres, should be sent to concerned voters on May 15, 2019 evening and the report in this regard should be submitted to his office.
