Voting is our constitutional duty: Prof. Vikram Kaushik
It is the duty of every aware citizen to propagate democratic and constitutional values in the society and the nation. Students of media studies should not only become the flag bearers of democracy but also work towards bringing democratic awareness and they must also vote in elections. Eminent media expert and Professor of Mass Communication Department of GJU S&T, Hisar Dr. Vikram Kaushik expressed this in an awareness program organized in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of MDU, Rohtak.
Rohtak, September 16, 2024: It is the duty of every aware citizen to propagate democratic and constitutional values in the society and the nation. Students of media studies should not only become the flag bearers of democracy but also work towards bringing democratic awareness and they must also vote in elections. Eminent media expert and Professor of Mass Communication Department of GJU S&T, Hisar Dr. Vikram Kaushik expressed this in an awareness program organized in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of MDU, Rohtak.
Addressing this special lecture organized under the SVEEP campaign as the keynote speaker, Prof. Vikram Kaushik said that every student must read the Indian Constitution. He said that constitutional values have great importance in democracy. Voting is our constitutional duty.
Head of the Department, Prof. Harish Kumar said that India is a reputed democracy in the world. The governance system in India is based on the democratic system. Elections are the pillar of democracy and every citizen must exercise the right to vote.
Assistant Professor Dr. Naveen Kumar expressed gratitude and said that exercising the right to vote is not only our constitutional right but also our civic duty. The awareness program was coordinated by MDU Sweep Nodal Officer Sunit Mukherjee. Sunit Mukherjee said that International Democracy Day is celebrated all over the world on 15 September. The significance of this day will lie in the fact that every voter strengthens democracy by exercising his or her right to vote. He appealed to the students to vote in the Assembly elections scheduled on October 5 in Haryana. Research scholars and students of the department were present during this occasion.
