Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney highlighted that this initiative is a significant step towards enhancing the green cover in the district. Considering the rapid depletion of forest cover, the focus is on maximizing plantation efforts. She emphasized the importance of providing ample green spaces to Ludhiana and stressed the need for the proper maintenance of the planted saplings.

Sawhney also mentioned that this plantation drive aligns with the commitment of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to encourage tree planting for a cleaner, greener, and pollution-free Punjab. She emphasized that a clean and pollution-free environment is essential for citizens' well-being, as trees are the primary source of oxygen, crucial for human life.
