Budhlada, June 4, 2023: To spread awareness on knee related problems a walkathon was organized at Ramleela ground Budhlada on Sunday.
Local sitting AAP MLA Principal Budh Ram and Dr. Gagan Deep Gupta, senior ortho surgeon at Shalby Hospital, Mohali were present during the occasion.
Budh Ram exhorted people to develop and follow a healthy lifestyle to keep themselves fit.
Dr. Gagan Deep Gupta said that the knee is a vulnerable joint that bears a great deal of stress from everyday activities, such as lifting and kneeling, and from high-impact activities, such as jogging and aerobics.
Many knee problems are a result of the aging process and continual wear and stress on the knee joint. Other knee problems are a result of an injury or a sudden movement that strains the knee, he informed.
While dispelling various myths about replacement surgery, Dr Gagan said that with advanced techniques like stitch less & painless now, joint replacement surgery is almost painless during operation and further scale of pain after the operation has also dropped by 90%. It is now managed with continuous epidural analgesia, said Dr. Gupta.
