New Delhi, December 11, 2012: The recent disclosure of lobbying report of Walmart stating an expenses of Rs. 125 crore for entry into Indian Retail Trade has stunned the nation.
The "Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha" a joint coalition of different organisations of retail stakeholders has given a call to observe December 12 as "Sankalp Divas" across the country in which the different sections of stakeholders will gather at the statute of Mahatama Gandhi in their respective states/cities and will sit on a dharna demanding the government to institute an impartial and independent inquiry in to the whole episode and will also take a pledge to continue their nationwide movement against FDI in Retail in a more effective manner.
In Delhi, this dharna will be held at Rajghat, the Samadhi of Mahatama Gandhi on December 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. which will be largely attended by prominent leaders and activists of organisations of farmers, hawkers, traders, small industries, labourers, consumers, cooperatives, and self employed groups.
“Prominent leaders of BJP and allies of NDA, Left Front and other political parties who have opposed FDI in Retail will join the dharna”, said Praveen Khandelwal, National Secretary General, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
