Chandigarh, March 10, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora shared data of the remarkable success of the Punjab Government's 'War Against Drugs' (Yudh Nashian Virudh) campaign over the past 10 days and presented details of the actions taken so far.
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Chandigarh on Monday, Aman Arora said that under the guidance of party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the 'AAP' government has achieved unprecedented success in its campaign against drugs in Punjab.
He revealed that under the 'War Against Drugs' campaign, the police have registered 988 FIRs under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and arrested 1360 drug traffickers. Additionally, 1035 kg of heroin, opium, and other synthetic drugs have been seized. Approximately 6.81 lakh drug pills and ₹36 lakh in cash have also been recovered. These figures reflect how serious the Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab government is about eliminating drugs.
Furthermore, around 24 buildings linked to drug traffickers have been demolished. These individuals had accumulated assets worth crores of rupees through illegal and trafficking-related means. Meanwhile, 19 traffickers were injured in police retaliatory action. The police were forced to open fire on these individuals in self-defense.
Arora stated that the AAP government is fully committed to eradicate drugs from Punjab. The police are working 24×7 against drug traffickers. He issued a warning to drug traffickers, saying they must either quit the drug smuggling or leave Punjab. There will be no compromise on drugs.
Arora also criticized previous governments for shielding drug traffickers, which has led to Punjab facing the issue of drugs today. Contrary to these previous governments, the 'AAP' government is taking strict action against drug traffickers, and the results are evident. He said that the government is continuously striving to eliminate drugs from Punjab at its roots and is confident that this campaign will succeed.
Arora mentioned that a Cabinet Committee formed for this campaign, comprising himself, Harpal Singh Cheema, Laljit Singh Bhullar, and Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, is regularly monitoring the efforts by visiting various districts and holding meetings with district officials. Additionally, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh is overseeing all hospitals, de-addiction, and rehabilitation centers in Punjab and meeting with patients. Arora affirmed that this time, the Punjab government and Punjab police are working systematically to eradicate drugs from the state.
