Waste management and environmental cleanliness activities are conducted under IEC at Ivy World School
Ivy World School, Jalandhar under the aegis of the Vasal Education conducted Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness Activities under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Initiative.
Jalandhar, October 22, 2024: Ivy World School, Jalandhar under the aegis of the Vasal Education conducted Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness Activities under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Initiative.
The initiative was taken by Dr. Sumita Abrol, Assistant Health Officer, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar along with her presenters R J Himanshu known by many people as Bin, R J Vikrant and Umesh who are experts in the field of waste management and environmental practices. They expressed their views about educating the students about proper waste disposal and understanding the importance of keeping the environment clean. Their collaborative efforts accentuated the community's commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission and highlighted the importance of collective action in promoting cleanliness and hygiene practices.
Extremely stimulating and enriching activities presented by R J Himanshu and R J Vikrant aimed to raise awareness among the students about the importance of proper waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
Bin laid emphasis on effective segregation and management of dry and wet waste which are crucial for a sustainable future. Using colour-coded dustbins—green for organic waste, red for biomedical waste, and blue for dry recyclables—streamlines waste processing, enhances recycling efforts, and reduces environmental impact. He also sensitizes students about ‘Say No To Plastic’.
Another team member Saroj Kapoor, also expressed her views about adopting these practices at the individual levels to significantly contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all. She mentioned that dry, wet and harmful waste segregation is a fundamental aspect of effective waste management, aimed at optimizing resource recovery and minimizing environmental impact.
The President of Vasal Education, K.K. Vasal, The Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Vasal, The Vice President Ena Vasal, The CEO Raghav Vasal, and The Director Aditi Vasal said that as future responsible citizens of our nation, awareness among students about segregation of waste is very important for promoting a sustainable environment. Encouraging waste reduction and implementing recycling initiatives in schools teach students about environmental responsibility. By promoting recycling bins, composting programs, and reducing single-use plastics, schools contribute to creating a sustainable future. Students learn about the importance of minimizing waste, conserving resources, and protecting the environment for generations to come.
The Director Principal of Ivy World School, said that these enlightening and creative activities inculcate the various kinds of environmental values among students for protecting our environment and its valuable resources to enhance the environmental development. She further said that proper waste management conserves resources, reduces pollution and promotes public health.
