Waste water management of 7 villages situated on the banks of Budha Dariya will be done under 'Seechhewal Model': Sant Seechewal
• Villagers of the area assured all possible cooperation for cleaning the dariya
• Five and a half acres of land leased for putting dairy dung
Ludhiana, February 1, 2025: Ponds will be constructed under the 'Seechhewal Model' to prevent the dirty water of 7 villages located in the upper areas of Budha Dariya from falling into the river. Rajya Sabha member and environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that Seechewal Model-2 will be established in the eight villages whose sewerage water is polluting Budha Dariya so that the water of those villages can be taken out for agriculture and the sewerage falling into Budha Dariya can be stopped. These villages include Bhukhri Kalan, Bhukhri Khurd, Khasi Kalan, Khasi Khurd, Lakhowal, Budhewal, Dhanasu and Tajpur. Out of these, the wastewater of Tajpur village will be released into the 225 MLD treatment plant.
There are more than 100 dairies in these villages and nearby areas, whose dung and excreta are flowing into the Budha Dariya. Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that five and a half acres of land has been leased in Bhukhri Khurd village for dung disposal. He also appealed to the dairy owners that they can throw dung on the said land without any restriction. He appealed to the dairy owners not to throw cow dung and animal excreta into the Budha Dariya, because people of eight districts of Malwa and Rajasthan are drinking this water without treatment.
Panchayat members of village Bhukhri Khurd were also present with Sant Seechewal. The villagers thanked Sant Seechewal and said that the people of this area had given up hope of the polluted Budha Dariya becoming clean again, but now they are confident that Budha Dariya will regain its old glory. The people of these villages assured that they would provide all possible cooperation for cleaning this river.
