Water will be released from Pong Dam from 8 am on Monday, stay away from downstream area: DC Kangra

Dharamshala, August 13, 2023: Due to incessant rains in Kangra district, rivers, drains and potholes are in spate. Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr.Niupan Jindal said that due to heavy rains the water level of Pong reservoir has also increased. He informed that as a result, the BBMB administration would release continuous water from Pong Dam from 8 am on August 14, 2023 (Monday). During this, 25 thousand cusecs of water will be released from Pong Dam on August 14 from 8 am, 40 thousand cusecs after 10 am and 50 thousand cusecs after 12 noon, he said.
He has appealed to the people of panchayats adjacent to the downstream area of Pong not to go near the river. He said that if there is any person or cattle near the downstream area of Pong, then immediately take them to a safe place. Appealing to the people to be alert, he asked to cooperate with the administration. He said that people should contact the administration directly to deal with any kind of emergency or disaster. He appealed to the people not to pay heed to any kind of rumor during this period and not to share any such thing which creates fear without knowing its veracity.
