Wave City organizes ‘Tree-a-thon’ – the marathon plantation drive to mark Gandhi Jayanti
Ghaziabad, October 2, 2021: Wave City, one of India's largest smart cities on National highway 9 (24), organized a project-wide plantation drive on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. The drive executed by spirited school kids, staffs of Delhi Public School (DPS) Ghaziabad, Wave employees and volunteers, aimed to enhance the green cover of the project by planting 5000 flora of all varieties across its sectors 1, 6, and 7. The project already has around 3.5 lakh rupees on trees and shrubs with more than 10,000 of them being planted this year alone. An estimated 25 lakhs have been invested towards the purchase of saplings and their maintenance cost in this drive alone. The day-long drive is the largest volunteer-based plantation drive at the project.
Participating in the event and planting a sapling on the roadside, Mr. C.J Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Wave Infratech said “Wave City is a flagship project of the Wave Group, designed to provide a distinct living experience. It is a hallmark of an environment-friendly and sustainable development of hi-tech city. This mass plantation drive is yet another step in the series of efforts undertaken towards increasing the green cover of the area and ensuring a healthier environment for our much-valued residents. It also meets the broader vision of meeting sustainable development goals set for the project.”
Wave City, World’s one of the largest green pre-certified platinum rated township’ is the epitome of technological innovation and environment-friendly smart project. It just concluded the celebrations of ‘World Green Building Week’ from 20 - 24 September 2021 and undertook ‘PROMISE to spread awareness amongst all employees and plant saplings equivalent to the number of employees and more in the organization’. The project has an array of facilities and infrastructure systems aimed towards balancing nature, technology, and development. Some of these infrastructure features are Rainwater harvesting, street light automation, solar lighting system, smart metering and monitoring systems, electric vehicles within the premise, sewage treated water for flushing and irrigation, organic waste composting, to name a few.
