Ways to protect your kids from dengue
Ludhiana, November 17, 2021: The Dengue fever, which is also commonly known as “Break bone fever”. Dengue can affect any age group and children are at an equal risk. The immune system of kids is still being developed, their chances of a getting severe fever and other symptoms is higher. However, children are more prone to this disease as they play outdoors and are also not completely aware of these mosquito bites.
According to Dr Puneet A Pooni, Professor & Head Department of Paediatrics it is advisable to all parents to take preventive and safety measures to protect their children from the dengue fever. Wear full sleeves clothes, use mosquito repellent at home to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home, maintain good personal hygiene at home avoid stagnant water at home to stop the breeding of the mosquitoes are some tips to prevent dengue fever says Dr Pooni.
Dr Deepak Bhat, Professor Department of Paediatrics highlighted that fever is the most common symptom of dengue. Do not panic if your child get fever, it is requested to all the parents to use of Paracetamol / crocin only, avoid using Nimesulide, Ibugesic Plus, Meftal P as these medications can increase the risk of bleeding.
According to Dr G S Dhooria Professor Department of Paediatrics said that it is advisable to do sponging during fever (with tap water) and adequate liquid intake can lower the risk. For liquids intake do not use packed juices, cold drinks, Glucon-D. Parents should use ORS water or homemade lemon water.
