Cabinet Minister reviewed the project "Ghar de nede, mere naal - ucch sikhia de mauke aapar" at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University

Kapurthala/Chandigarh, May 9, 2023: "We are working to bridge the gap between school, higher & technical education and the students are getting direct benefits with the efforts of these three departments. Punjab Government has been working as a link between various types of Education. As a result of this, the admissions in schools have increased by 13 percent and now it is expected that the graph of admissions at higher education & technical education will be on the top in this academic session 2023-24. This is addressed by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Education Minister Bains was reached at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala to review the project "Ghar de nede, mere naal - ucch sikhia de mauke aapar". He was welcomed by the University Registrar Dr. S.K Misra.
 
Project "Ghar de nede, mere naal - ucch sikhia de mauke aapar". was an initiative towards bridging the gap between school education, higher education & technical education. University officials said that there was a gap between school education, higher education & technical education. All these three sectors were doing better in their own capacity, but together they were not moving towards much better. The school students, their parents were not even aware that there are large numbers of institutions with state-of-the-art facilities near to their homes. For this awareness, thousands of students of government schools were given educational tours of major institutions of higher education, technical education in Punjab. Even the higher education, technical education institution teams were also encouraged to make their approach to schools and they did a tremendous job. 

I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar, Kapurthala became the leading university in this campaign. Thousands of students and faculty members were given an academic visit by the university. The university teams themselves also reached out to different schools and guided students about the better opportunities available for technical education in Punjab.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that we are hopeful that the benefit of the campaign will prove helpful in attaining the top number in academic admissions for the year 2023-24. Meanwhile, the Education Minister also launched an online portal related to University Admission 2023-24. This portal has been developed by the IT Department of University in collaboration with the Admission Cell. The cabinet minister also met the students of different states studying at the university. 

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains assured the university to resolve the demands regarding the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, also bringing them under the scope of the old pension scheme. He shared about the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor at IKGPTU by the end of this month. Referring to Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar Sahib, he also shared the vision of the Punjab government about keeping all the universities of Punjab at the forefront of the country. On this occasion, folk dances of various state students were performed.

During the program, all the deans and senior officials of the university were present. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dean P&EP Dr. R.P.S Bedi and the event was moderated by Deputy Registrar Public Relations Rajneesh Sharma.
