Ludhiana, April 2, 2025: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Manish Sisodia on Wednesday stated that the state government will make "Padhda Punjab" a reality and emphasized that it is working passionately to transforming the education sector and implementing revolutionary changes daily.
During an open dialogue with citizens of Punjab who want to contribute to the improvement of the education sector, Bains and Sisodia reiterated their commitment to enhancing education for 6.2 million students in both government and private schools and colleges in state. They stressed that the education system in Punjab is currently experiencing a significant transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Efforts are being made to ensure modern school infrastructure, implement teacher training programs, facilitate recruitments, and provide free coaching for competitive exams like NEET and JEE, making these resources accessible throughout the region. We have to secure the future of 6.2 million students by ensuring better school infrastructure and providing quality, innovative teaching and learning to achieve remarkable results for the state, making Punjab a leader in the country.
On April 7, a new phase of development will commence with a series of inaugurations of new schools across Punjab, set to take place over the next two months daily. They also highlighted the vital role of citizens in generating innovative ideas to improve education.
The Minister and AAP's Punjab Affairs In-charge mentioned that education is the backbone of any society and the state government is making continuous reforms in educational infrastructure to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.
Earlier, the Education Minister also presented a series of revolutionary steps taken by the state government over the past three years. These include the establishment of 117 Schools of Eminence, passing percentage now exceeding 92%. The government has also added 6,200 new classrooms and renovated 4,700 existing ones. Additionally, 10487 new teachers have been recruited, and the services of 12316 teachers have been regularized.
Training opportunities have been provided for 234 teachers in Singapore, 144 primary teachers in Finland, and over 150 teachers in IIM Ahmedabad. Furthermore, 90% of schools now have Wi-Fi facilities, and 128 schools offer transport services. A total of 180,000 desks have been distributed across schools, along with the recruitment of 1,777 guards and 1,809 campus managers. The government also constructed 10095 new toilets in schools, and impressively, 189 students from government schools successfully cracked the JEE, among many other initiatives.
