Web seminar on `Bhartiya Chintan mein Dukkha Aur Uska Nidaan

Chandigarh: Today, a web seminar on the topic 'Bhartiya Chintan mein Dukkha Aur Uska Nidaan' was organized in the Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Department of Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Pradyuman Shah Singh of Department of Buddhist Jaina Philosophy, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi was main speaker.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar PU inaugurated the Webinar and Prof. Gurmeet Singh Sidhu,incharge Guru Govind Singh Chair, Punjabi University, Patialachaired the Sessions. The web lecture started with a welcome note delivered by Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Professor & Accademic in-charge, Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies. Pro. Karamjit Singh, in his inaugural address, highlighted the nature of Dukkha and its causes and linked it with Gurmat.
Keynote speaker Prof. Shah elaborated on the cause and nature of Dukkha and explained its historical and religious reasons. He gave a fair discussion of the nature of Dukkha in Buddhism, Jainism and other Indian belief-systems and religions. According to Buddhism, this world is miserable, there is the cause of this Dukkha, is the solution to this Dukkha and is the way to get rid of this Dukkha. It is told through four Arya truths. Through the Partitya Samutpada (Doctrine of Depnedent Origination), he explained the cause of Dukkhaand gave a solutionthrough the Arya Ashtanga Marg (Way of Eightfold Path). According to Hinduism, the cause of man's Dukkha is his karma, there are many types of actions, such as accumulated karma, destined karma.
Through good deeds and Bhagavad Grace, man transits Bhavsagar, that is, he is always free from Dukkha forever. Sorrow in Gurmat has been represented as the true form of human life, which can only end with Guruprasad. For the relief of Dukkha, the Gurmat lays special emphasis on Naam Sumiran, Guru Sharan, the brilliance of character and the significance of actions.
In his Presidential remarks, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Siddhu highlighted the nature od Dukkha and linked with Gurmat and emphasized on Gurbani and Guruprasad for removal of Dukkha.Many researchers, students and scholars participated in the webinar. In end of Webinar Prof. Virendr Alankar of Department of Sanskrit expressed his gratitude towards the Teachers, Scholars and Students and gave a vote of Thanks to all the audience.
