Webinar held on philosophy and thought of Guru Gobind Singh

Chandigarh: Today, a Web Seminar entitled “Guru Gobind Singh Ji di Bani Vich Darshan ate Vichar (In Special Context to Jaap Sahib, Chandi Di Vaar and Zafarnama)” was organized by the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, PU Chandigarh in collaboration with Panjab University Alumni Association on the occasions of its Golden Jubilee Celebration.
Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Professor & Academic Incharge of the department welcomed all the speakers, guests and audiences and gave a glimpse of a webinar and introduction of speakers and topics. In his inaugural address, Prof V R Sinha, Dean Research said that Sikh religion and tradition is based on humanitarian values of Universal brotherhood, selfless service, justice and sacrifice. The tripod of Naam Japo, Krit Karo aur Vand Ke chhako will always lead humanity in the right direction. Main speaker was Dr. Shobha Kaur from University of Delhi. Dr. Kaur said that Guru Gobind Singh gave a new social system based on the qualities of equality, bravery, brotherhood, struggles and justice. He tried to convert the lamb into a lion. Sikhs were a direct threat to Mughal administration so they persecuted the Sikhs as well as others. Sikh Gurus tried to save the persecuted mass from Mughals and gave their lives for the sake of religion and humanity. Guru Gobind Singh transformed the whole society through his valorous poetic literature. These valorous poetic literary pieces are contained in Shri Dasham Granth. Dr. Asma Qadri from Punjab University Lahore gave an explanatory address through Shabad ‘Mittar Pyare Nu Haal Mureedan Da Kahina’ of Guru Gobind Singh in an optimistic way. In his presidential address Prof. Paramvir Singh, Head Department of Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, Punjabi University Patiala said that religion is an essential part of our life. Religion always changes with the time and reforms the society. Guru Gobind Singh and other gurus tried to transform the society and constructed a society based on the values of fearlessness, service of mankind and justice. Many students, researchers, faculties and scholars from Various universities and colleges across India participated in the webinar. There are many students and researchers from the USA, Canada, UK and Australia also attended the webinar and made this webinar internationally.
The stage was conducted by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh. At the end of Webinar, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, expressed his gratitude towards the Teachers, Scholars and Students and gave a vote of Thanks to all the audience. He also expressed her honour and gratitude towards Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar for their inspiration to conduct such a webinar.
