The Resource Person of the day was Dr Kewal Krishan Nailwal
Chandigarh: The Department of Punjabi of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organized a Webinar on Punjabi Natak ate Rangmanch. The Resource Person of the day was Dr. Kewal Krishan Nailwal who is one of the iconic figures in this field.
Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra warmly welcomed him and put forth that it is an honour to have such personality amongst us and it is a privilege for our students who will get inspired from him. She added it is the quality and passion in his plays that attracts the audience towards his works.
Addressing the students, Dr. Kewal Krishan Nailwal put forth that Theatre is the biggest platform which can be used to express ourselves and also to point out the social stigmas taking place around us. Talking of the history of Plays in Punjabi language, he shared that initially it had begun to raise voice or an opinion on the things happening around in the society as- Dowry, Broken marriages etc but with the evolving time, the themes of today’s plays are changing widely and embracing even more subjects for its plots. He also shared with students his experience and challenges he came across within this field.
Answering students’ queries, he also talked of the role of Design in Stage setting, Variation in the voice of the characters, Pitch etc.
Mr. Gurpreet Singh from Department of Theatre expressed his ecstasy on being able to interact with such an iconic figure of Theatre.
