Webinar on Role of NCC in Environment Sensitization

Jalandhar: Doaba College’s NCC Department and PG Department of Journalism &Mass Communication organized a webinar entitled “Role of NCC in Environment Sensitization” inder the guidelines of UGC . Col Ashok Mor- Adm. officer (IIT, Kanpur) and alumnus graced the occasion as Resource Person. He was accorded a hearty welcome by Officiating Principal Prof Kanwaljit Singh, Dr. Simran Sidhu-Head, Lt ANO Prof Rahul Bhardwaj and 60 participants.
Col. Ashok Mor, said that, “Environment, information and knowledge plays a vital role in sensitization of the people. The Developed as well as the developing countries hold equal responsibility to make this earth a better place. The various queries related to environment as well as NCC as a career option were answered at the end of session. He said that NCC has also been introduced as elective subject in schools. He shared the benefits of joining NCC right from school level, as certifications of NCC helps in getting extra score in written exam and face interview board while appearing for Indian army, Indian Coast guard, Police Force etc.
An on-line essay writing competition was also organized on the occasion on the above mentioned theme. The competition received forty online submissions of essays from students of various faculties. The essays were judged on various parameters, including, introduction, creativity, originality, unity, development of thought, grammar and conclusion etc.
In English language, Kalpana, Gulshan and Palavi bagged First, Second and Third positions respectively. In Hindi language, Aseem achieved First position, Neelam and Shilpa shared Second and Shama Sharma bagged Third position in the competition. Similarly, in Punjabi language, Rajiv, Simran Kaur and Aarti stood First, Second and Third in competition.The event was judged by Prof Sandeep Chahal, Dr Munish Kumar and Dr Satwinder Kaur .
