Chandigarh: A Webinar titled as "Student Engaging Classrooms - Online/Offline" was organized by University Institute of Engineering and Technology(UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh on May 15, 2020 through webex. The primary goal of the webinar was to apprise the participants on how to keep students engaged and involved in the classroom. Due to present testing times, education is being imparted using various online platforms, however, one of the major issue being faced by instructors is how to keep students engaged and involved in classrooms. Through this an effort was done to provide solutions that may help improve student engagement in classrooms being useful for online teaching as well as classroom teaching. The webinar was conducted by Ms. Ravreet Kaur and Dr. Deepti Gupta, Assistant Professors in the department of Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The event was a great success with presence of around 62 participants comprising of faculty members, research scholars and students of the organising institute and the other adjoining institutions nearby Chandigarh. This webinar included an introductory presentation which included basic idea, need, motivation and features of Student Engaging Classrooms by the speakers followed by a live demo of diiferent formative assessment tools. The webinar motivated participants to explore different tools and enhance student learning by effective student involvement and connect. This would also ensure continuous learning for the students during adverse conditions such as the present pandemic covid-19 and prepare institutes and their faculty members for online classes. The session was appreciated by all the participants.
