Ferozepur, February 1, 2013: The joyous celebrations turned into sorrows when after the thieves stole about Rs.20 lakh cash and gold on Wednesday night when all the members of the family had gone to celebrate marriage of the son of a local businessman running a electronic show room.

As per the sources, the burglars entered the house  of Vijay Kumar owner of Sonu Electronics whose son marriage was being solemnised at the marriage palace on Ferozepur-Faridkot road at a distance of about 15 Kms, through ventilator, broke open the lock of almiran in Pooja Room and decamped with the cash and diamond jewellery besides the currency notes from shagun envelopes.  However, the bank draft given by one of his relative was found lying with the empty envelopes.

The family came to know only when they had come to drop the gifts and change the dress and the cash and gold ornaments work Rs.20 lakhs are reported to be missing.

According to DSP Vibohre Sharma, it appears to be handiwork of some insider. 

A case has been registered and five people have been rounded up on suspicion.
