Says seeking suggestions from public regarding forthcoming Budget a historic change
Ludhiana, May 6, 2022: Punjab Finance, Planning, Programme Implementation, Excise & Taxation & Cooperation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today said what previous governments tried doing after 4.5 years of their rule, Bhagwant Mann-led AAP Government did it in first 50 days of coming to power.
He said that seeking suggestions from public regarding forthcoming “Janta Budget” is a historic change. He said that it is for the first time ever that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has been seeking suggestions from the people for the “Janta Budget”.
“We have already advertised more than 26000 government jobs, besides several other people-friendly decisions have already been taken. Even seeking suggestions from all sections of society in our first ever budget is in itself a revolutionary step,” the Cabinet Minister said.
The Cabinet Minister said this while interacting with Ludhiana industrialists and seek their suggestions for “Janta Budget” at Bachat Bhawan, here today.
This meeting was also attended by MLAs Sarvjit Kaur Manuke, Madan Lal Bagga, Daljit Singh Grewal, Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, Jeevan Singh Sangowal, Hakam Singh Thekedar, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Manwinder Singh Giaspura and Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Dr KNS Kang, Amandeep Singh Mohi, AAP District President Suresh Goyal, besides several others.
During his address to the industrialists, Harpal Singh Cheema said that sadly, previous governments in the state had not taken any concrete steps to address the problems related to the industry, due to which industrial development did not take place properly and if steps for upliftment of industry are not taken now, it could have serious consequences.
“That is why the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is seeking suggestions of people from all sections of society regarding “Janta Budget”,” while assuring that these suggestions will be incorporated in the forthcoming budget.
The Finance Minister said that when people give their suggestions, they should also share their grievances and their grievances would be resolved accordingly. He appealed to the people of Punjab to give maximum positive suggestions for the Janta budget so that for the first time in Punjab, a budget of people's choice could be prepared.
He said that all suggestions should be submitted in writing and assured that all valid suggestions would be incorporated in the Janta Budget.
He said those interested in giving suggestions can leave a message at the portal finance.punjab.gov.in or at email ID [email protected] till May 10, 2022 to participate in the preparation of the budget. He informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also already directed all MLAs to interact with public in their respective constituencies and seek their suggestions.
He shared that till date, more than 1 lakh suggestions have already been received.
The industrialists who shared their suggestions regarding Janta Budget include Neeraj Satija, Amit Thapar, Rahul Ahuja, Gurmeet Singh Kular, Ashwin Nagpal, Rajneesh Ahuja, Gurpargat Singh Kahlon, K K Garg, Jang Bahadur Singh, Vinod Thapar, Rajan Gupta, DS Chawla, Ashok Juneja, Munish Behal, Pankaj Sharma, Ramanjit Singh, Ashok Sachdeva, Gurwinder Singh Lamba, Ishar Singh, besides several others.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Deputy Secretary Finance Udaydeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, Commissioner of Police Dr Kaustubh Sharma, ADC Khanna Amarjit Bains, besides several others.
