Will it be possible to implement all poll promises?
The question is from where the next state government arrange revenue to implement the tall poll promises
Political leaders assuring guarantee?
Who cares for the state exchequer, if the guarantee schemes are implemented, declining revenue in the state exchequer and increasing expenditure will certainly effect the development works and pressurize the government to take loans by mortgaging government properties in bank. People are waiting for announcements and leaders are taking guarantee to implement all the freebies, pensions, sops as announced by them if voted to power. At present, there are number of schemes for the poor, middle class families, students etc. Apart from these schemes the political leaders are announcing welfare schemes without caring of the state exchequer. Political parties are carrying out drive through filling forms from the masses through organizing camps awaking them the benefits they guarantee will be implemented if voted to power.
BJP active in Punjab
BJP workers / cadre after the roll back of the three farm laws are in a jubilant and enthusiastic mood. The party’s top leaders are carrying out meetings to motivate the party workers keeping in view the current prevailing political situation. The party’s national vice president and political affairs in charge Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and J&K Saudan Singh, national secretary and co- in charge Dr Narinder Singh Raina, general secretary (organization) Pawan Rana state president Ashwani Sharma, general secretary Rajesh Bagha, Jiwan Gupta, Dr Subhash Sharma held series of meetings to motivate the party leaders and finalised the name of workers from other states to work in different cities to strengthen the party and boost the morale of the workers at booth level in the state. The party will be holding a massive meeting of Punjab BJP Parishad on December 14 at Harshilla Resort, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana in which Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Gajendera Singh Shekhawat, Meenakshi Lekhi, Som Parkash, Punjab BJP political affairs in-charge and national general secretary Dushyant Gautam, co in charge political affairs Narinder Singh Raina will also be present. Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi also organised meeting with the industrialists in Jalandhar to listen their grievances, if any. The party has assigned the duty of preparing poll manifesto for the coming Punjab Assembly Elections 2022 to the party’s senior leaders such as Manoranjan Kalia. The party’s state unit will be soon opening its election office in Jalandhar- the media hub of Punjab.
Farmers’ agitation is over
With the rollback of three farms laws, the farmers protest has been called back and they have started returning from the Delhi Borders. The farmers are in a jubilant mood. The time will tell to which political party the farmers are going to support.
Is Congress confused?
Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi says that he is working day and night to redress the public grievances. He further says that he has risen from ground level to this post. Thus, he is very much aware about the problems being faced by the common masses. But, people seems to be dissatisfied with the working of the state government. This is the reason that dharnas and protests are being staged throughout the state for one or another reason. Perhaps this is why the PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu is cautioning Channi to refrain from making announcements only. Only those announcements should be made that can be fulfilled.
Kejriwal’s big announcements?
Aam Adami Party (AAP) convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is assuring guarantee promises if voted to power. In Pathankot and Hoshiarpur he has given guarantee to the masses on various announcements made by him. He has made several announcements with regard to pension scheme, education for students and so on. The list is getting long day-by-day as the elections are nearing. People are skeptical about all these tall claims (announcements). Does the state exchequer allowed to implement these freebies in a big way? People think. Let us see what happens in the future.
Akalis too wooing electorates
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal is also announcing series of benefits for the masses if voted to power. This is really an interesting thing. Every political party is trying to woo electorates. Then why should he lag behind. Let us see who wins the race in this political battle.
Entry of Punjab Lok Congress
Punjab’s former CM Capt Amarinder Singh has floated a new political party namely ‘Punjab Lok Congress’. It has already started its activities in the state. He is likely to go for alliance/seat adjustment with BJP. The party’s office has already started functioning.
There is a general feeling that as every political party is making tall promises to voters of the state. Therefore, it will not be an easy task to run the next government in the state after implementing all the promises being made now. The question is from where the next state government arrange revenue to implement the tall poll promises.
