Will make India healthy by taking Yoga to the people: Anurag Thakur
Yoga system will be made accessible to the people of India so that the vision of a healthy India can be realised. This was expressed by Union Information and Broadcasting, Youth Services Sports Minister Anurag Thakur while addressing the participants after inaugurating the Yoga Festival at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.
Dharamsala, May 14, 2022: Yoga system will be made accessible to the people of India so that the vision of a healthy India can be realised. This was expressed by Union Information and Broadcasting, Youth Services Sports Minister Anurag Thakur while addressing the participants after inaugurating the Yoga Festival at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, various programs regarding Yoga have been organized at 25 thousand places across the country. "Various programs will be organized across the country to make people aware about yoga so that every citizen of the country can voluntarily engage with yoga practice on 21st June on the occasion of International Yoga Day. A target has been set to take yoga to every village,"Minister Said.
Anurag Thakur said that on 27 September 2014, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi had advocated for celebrating Yoga Day in the United Nations General Assembly and all the countries of the world accepted it and celebrated International Yoga Day on 21 June 2015 through the United Nations General Assembly.
Anurag Thakur said that Yoga is a priceless gift of India's ancient tradition. Yoga is the harmony between nature and man.
He said that Yoga has proved to be a boon for the common people of India even in the initial phase of COVID-19, many people have also saved their life from Kovid with Yoga . He said that India is a country of youth and effective steps would be taken to motivate all the youth towards yoga. He said that we are moving towards realizing the vision of a healthy India and malnutrition free India.
On this occasion, along with Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, volunteers of NSS, sportspersons and volunteers of various educational institutions, Nehru Yuva Kendras also participated in Dharamsala.
Many dignitaries including MLA Vishal Naihariya, District President Chandra Bhushan Nag, Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal, Superintendent of Police Khushal Sharma were present on the occasion.
