The senior Congress leader Chaudhary Chander Kumar when asked about this he said that only after the counting of votes on 8th, it will be known how many seats Congress will get in Himachal. He said that the winning MLAs will sit and decide their leader and their verdict will be sent to High Command and the decision taken by the high command in the Congress party is accepted by all.
When asked that the bio data of some leaders were demanded by the party for leadership in the coming government in Himachal , Kumar said that there is no need for it, this type of news is not correct because Bio data of all the candidates always remains with high command.
He said that it is true that the path to power comes out only on the strength of the seats won from Kangra. When asked whether he is in the race for the chief minister ship, he said that first the results should be out so that it would be known how many seats the Congress has won.
Chander Kumar (78) served as Member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Kangra constituency of Himachal Pradesh as a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2009. His political career started when he was elected to Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha as Member of Legislative Assembly from Guler constituency in 1982. In the November 2017 assembly elections, Kumar was the Indian National Congress candidate from Jawali constituency and lost to Arjun Singh of the Bharatiya Janata party
Choudhary Chandan Kumar (Congress) is fighting a triangular contest from Jawali constituency of Kangra district against Sanjay Guleria (BJP) and Capt. Baldev Raj (AAP). The counting of votes shall be conducted on 8 th of this month.
