With Covid cases taper off, now all non-essential shops can operate from 5 am to 3 pm: DC Varinder Kumar Sharma
Home delivery also allowed till 9 pm
Ludhiana: With the dip in Covid cases and positivity rate in Ludhiana for the past two weeks, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday extended timings of the shops by two hours further and these would be allowed to operate from 5 am to 3 pm.
Speaking to the people of Ludhiana in his weekly Facebook live session on the official page of DPRO Ludhiana, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that Ludhiana has been witnessing some respite from past two weeks after the extraordinary scale of the second Covid wave hit the district in March-April.
He said that cases and positivity rate have been tapered off consistently due to which the decision of relaxation in the timings of shops has been taken.
The Deputy Commissioner added that now home delivery of the food items would also be allowed till 9 pm which was earlier 8 pm.
He said that we can prevent the third wave of Covid by strictly adhering to Covid apt behaviour and getting the vaccination as soon as possible.
Sharma said that the credit of the current Covid situation which is improving, goes to the thousands of health workers, officers/officials of every department who have been performing their duties tirelessly. He said that in the next fortnight, the administration would honour them for their sheer dedication and hard work in the Covid management.
He thanked all the social/religious organizations, NGOs, businessmen or industrialists, oxygen producers and distributors which have come forward to help the administration in this hour of crisis.
The Deputy Commissioner also applauded the role of Ludhianavis for giving their wholeheartedly support to the administration during the curfew imposed to contain the surge.
