Mumbai, February 7, 2025: Sony SAB’s ‘Wagle Ki Duniya - Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey’ has been a household favorite, striking a chord with viewers through its relatable storytelling and slice-of-life narratives. Known for addressing contemporary social and family issues through a lighter lens, the show recently took an interesting turn as Rajesh Wagle, played by Sumeet Raghvan gained the ability to visualise the future with the help of a mysterious power bank.

With these fragmented visions Rajesh now faces the challenge of deciding when and how to act on them. Sumeet Raghavan talks about the exciting new storyline, what it means for Rajesh, and what viewers can look forward to in the upcoming episodes.

Q1. How does Rajesh come to terms with his ability to see the future? Does he embrace or struggle with it?

At first, Rajesh is completely shocked and overwhelmed by his newfound ability. The fragmented visions leave him confused, and he struggles to make sense of them. As he realizes these are glimpses of the future, he feels a deep sense of responsibility, but that doesn’t necessarily make things easier. What seems like a gift quickly becomes a burden, making him question whether knowing the future is a blessing or just another source of stress. Rather than fully embracing it, Rajesh constantly finds himself torn between using his visions to help his loved ones and accepting that some things are beyond his control.

Q2. Does this new ability of having premonitions change Rajesh's relationship with his family and friends and how?

Everyone is left stunned and confused by how he suddenly seems to predict events before they happen. There’s an initial sense of disbelief, how is Rajesh pre-empting situations so accurately? How does he always seem to know what’s coming? This naturally leads to moments of both comedy and curiosity, as his loved ones react to his newfound ‘sixth sense.’ While some may find it fascinating, others might question or even doubt him. It adds an interesting layer to his relationships, making way for light-hearted moments, surprises, and unexpected challenges.

Q3. Does this storyline allow you to explore any new shades of Rajesh’s character?

As actors, we always look for subtle nuances in the script to bring depth to our performances. This storyline introduces an intriguing inner conflict for Rajesh, how does he balance this newfound power with his everyday life? How does he decide when to intervene and when to let things play out? His struggle, moral dilemmas, and personal growth will gradually unfold, revealing new shades of his character over time.

Q4. Beyond his family, does Rajesh use his ability to help others in his community or address larger societal issues?

Rajesh has always been more than just a family man—he represents the quintessential, socially conscious common man who cares deeply about his community. His premonitions push him beyond personal matters and into situations where he must make crucial decisions for the greater good. An example of this is when Rajesh has a terrifying vision of a bomb threat at a school. Instead of ignoring it, he takes immediate action, working with the police to avert a potential disaster. His premonitions aren’t just about personal gain; they push him into situations where he must make tough choices for the greater good.

Q5. What was your reaction when you learned about this twist where Rajesh gets the superpower to see the future?

My initial reaction was, “Wow, this is something different and exciting to explore!” But I wouldn’t call it a typical superpower, it’s more of an enhanced déjà vu experience. We all have those moments where we feel like we've seen or lived a situation before, and this storyline plays on that idea. In Rajesh’s case, it’s as if a part of his brain has unlocked this ability, allowing him to see fragmented visions of the future. The beauty of Wagle Ki Duniya is that, even with this extraordinary element, it stays grounded in relatable, everyday life, which makes it all the more interesting.

Q6.Do you personally believe in the idea of premonitions or superpowers? If you had the power to see the future, how would you use it?

I do believe that there are mysteries in this universe that we can’t fully understand. Whether you call it God, nature, or an unknown cosmic force, there’s something beyond human comprehension that shapes our lives. If I had the ability to see the future, I would use it for the greater good—helping prevent disasters, making cities safer, and ensuring people are warned before misfortunes strike. But at the same time, I think life’s unpredictability is what makes it exciting. Some things are best left unknown.
