Withdraw two-day lockdown on Saturday and Sunday: PPBM
Says otherwise they shall be constrained to lodge protest by wearing black badges
Ludhiana: Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) staged a protest against the policies of the state government here today. Addressing the protestors, the mandal’s state general secretary Sunil Mehra and other leaders including Rakesh Vohra, Ramesh Mahajan and Vijay Kapoor said the traders are facing acute recession due to the faulty policies of the state government. They regretted that the weekend two-day lockdown on every Saturday and Sunday has broken backbone of the traders’ community.
They pointed out that if liquor vends, restaurants, hotels etc can open then why not other shopkeepers are being allowed to open their shops. They said it seems as if traders are being ignored by Capt Amarinder Singh government whereas the fact is that traders give maximum revenue in shape of taxes to the state government. They said lock down has been withdrawn everywhere including Chandigarh, UP, Delhi but Punjab Government is not taking any decision in this regard.
They warned that if the state government failed to withdraw lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays then the traders will be constrained to protest after wearing black badges. On the occasion, Pawan Malhotra, Mohinder Pal, Vinod Madan, Saksham, Jatinder, Pradeep Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Sajan Madan, Amit Marwaha, Govind Chopra and others were present.
