Woman S&T leader takes over as Advisor of Northern Region Science and Technology Cluster
The first Regional Science and Technology Cluster of the country set up at Panjab University with support of the office of Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India will be steered by Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, an accomplished woman leader having rich experience of policy planning, infrastructure development and driving novel initiatives for growth of science, technology & innovation ecosystem. She has taken over as Advisor of the North Region S&T Cluster.

Chandigarh, February 11, 2025: The first Regional Science and Technology Cluster of the country set up at Panjab University with support of the office of Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India will be steered by Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, an accomplished woman leader having rich experience of policy planning, infrastructure development and driving novel initiatives for growth of science, technology & innovation ecosystem. She has taken over as Advisor of the North Region S&T Cluster.
The North Region Science & Technology Cluster has been established by Panjab University and Indian Institute of Technology- Ropar, the two premier institutions of India. It is governed by Panjab University - IIT, Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI) Foundation. Under leadership of Dr Arora, PI-RAHI strives to connect all stakeholders including research institutions, industry and Government across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Chandigarh to promote tech-based enterprises, address societal challenges as well as unmet needs of industry through technological innovations.
Dr. Arora, having an illustrious professional career spanning more than 35 years, is the former Executive Director of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology-cum-Member Secretary of Punjab Biodiversity Board. She is the recipient of ‘National Award for Women’s Development through Application of Science & Technology’ of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India from President of India. The Govt. of Punjab has awarded her ‘Punjab Sarkar Parman Patra’ for exemplary service in the field of science & technology. Indian Television Academy has honored her with ‘Gr8 Women Award’.
Dr. Arora has steered technology transfer for cleaner production to more than 1500 industries. She has also spearheaded development of State Action Plan on Climate Change 2.0 of Punjab.
