Women must lead from the front: Prof. Krishna Mohan
The Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University organized a lecture on Women Empowerment today on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Chandigarh, March 13, 2024: The Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University organized a lecture on Women Empowerment today on the occasion of International Women's Day.
The speaker of this lecture was Prof. Krishan Mohan from the Department of Geography, Panjab University. At the beginning of his lecture, Prof. Krishan Mohan described the events that ultimately led to the acceptance of International Women's Day. He said that most women in India work more hours than men, but their work is not counted because that work is not formal. This has had a deep impact on women's health. Prof. Mohan said that education and economic independence are measures of women empowerment, hence women will have to lead.
Prof. V.K. Alankar expressed his gratitude to the speaker. Prof. Said, “Our department draws strength from the women who work as office staff.” Prof. Alankar proudly told that most of the students in Sanskrit department are girls. He quoted verses from ancient texts, which laid emphasis on respect and empowerment of women.
In this lecture, teachers, researchers, students, girl students and teachers of Sanskrit Department and Dayanand Vedic Studies Chair of PU were present.
