Women’s forum of LMA organised a “Workshop on Kitchen Gardening & Waste Management” in Hotel Park Plaza.
Ludhiana: Women’s forum of LMA organised a “Workshop on Kitchen Gardening & Waste
Management” in Hotel Park Plaza.
The resource person was Ritu Malhan, Environmentalist who in the 60 minute session
emphasised on the Kitchen waste to grow vegetables at home with less space. The
Chairperson Ms. Shivani Gupta in her welcome address thanked her for addressing the
members of women’s forum of LMA. The session was attended by women members of
LMA.
Malhan explained what damage can organic waste do to the environment? It’s biodegradable,
so it must be harmless. Owing to its rapid generation, organic solid waste is a big environmental
concern today. The earth’s natural biodegradation process is unable to keep up with this pace said
Malhan. She further explained that in our Indian homes alone, we generate a tons of organic
waste every day, which includes garden and food waste. As part of our waste management
framework, our goal is to treat all organic, biodegradable waste on our homes and not allow any of it
to go out. She also teaches the members practically growing veggies and fruits at home and also
shared the instructions to follow while growing them at home.
It was a fruitful session for one and all that concluded with a vote of thanks by Shivani
Gupta Chairperson of LMA Women’s Forum and Savneet Chawla, Convener presents the
token of gratitude to the guest speaker
