Work on Zoo and Golf course will start soon in Kangra district: DC

Dharamsala, March 28, 2023: During his budget speech, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced the construction of a large zoological park at Bankhandi, with a budget of Rs 300 crore. He also declared Kangra district as the tourism capital.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal has confirmed that the Master Layout Plan for the Bankhandi Zoo(large zoological park} will be prepared within a month. The proposed zoo will be built on approximately 200 hectares of land in Kangra district, and the draft of the master layout plan will be ready by the end of April.
“The construction work will be carried out in three phases, with the first phase costing Rs 60 crore”, said Dr. Nipun Jindal. DC emphasized the importance of consulting with all stakeholders before finalizing the master layout plan. He instructed the concerned SDM to hold a consultation meeting with the Pradhans of Gram Panchayats of the concerned area and other stakeholders as soon as possible.
In addition to the zoo, Dr. Nipun Jindal also directed the completion of formalities for the proposed golf course in Dehra sub-division of the district. “The aim is to have the Bhoomipujan completed by April. These developments are expected to boost tourism in Kangra district and create new opportunities for the local community,” he added.
