Ludhiana, June 20, 2019: A one day workshop on Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship was organized under aegis of TEQIP-III program at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. The resource person for the workshop was Mr.Jan Jongbloed, Expert from PUM, Netherlands. Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC welcomed the guest speaker. He said that under the aegis of TEQIP-III college was striving to give various inputs to the faculty and students to help improve their performance. He said that GATE examination coaching for students, Different genres of workshops, Faculty development programs are being organized regularly under this program to uplift the qulaity of the institution. Introducing the guest speaker, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Exceutive Director- STEP, GNDEC & coordinator for this workshop said that PUM was a Netherlands based NGO supported by Netheralnds Government. It was engaged in the business of helping SMEs all over the world to become profitable and sustainable. They send out experts to every country for this purpose. Starting the workshop, Mr. Jongbloed insisted that we need to unscrew and unlearn to do creative thinking. He gave number of examples and exercises to the participants to start thinking creatively. He then started with the XLX exercise wherein the participants were divided into teams. Each team was to be assisted by a coach. He gave the teams a business canvas on which they were supposed to first write down their creative idea and the perspective customers for the same. The next step was finding out how to promote the business and the logistics of getting the product to the customer. In the third step the budding entrepreneurs were supposed to bring out the financial intricacies of their business. The final step involved preparing and presenting a pitch statement for their business to the venture capitalists to raise funds for their venture. The stages all had interesting examples and games to bring home the points of business. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks.
