Jalandhar, October 6, 2023: The Department of English of PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organized   a thought-provoking workshop titled "Breaking the Silences: Writing Women's Experiences." The resource person of the event was Dr. Ishmeet Kaur Chaudhry from the Centre for English Studies at Central University of Gujarat 

The event began with the floral welcome of the guest by the worthy Principal of the college Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar and the faculty members of the Department of English. The workshop brought together students, faculty members, and enthusiasts of literature who share a passion for exploring the complexities of women's experiences through the written word. 

Dr. Ishmeet Kaur, a renowned scholar and expert in the field of gender studies and literature, delivered a captivating presentation that delved into the significance of representing women's voices in literature and the arts because of their uniqueness and long under-representation due to societal taboos and prohibitions. 

During her enlightening session, Dr. Kaur highlighted the significance of breaking the silence surrounding women's experiences, shedding light on the struggles, triumphs, and narratives often hidden from mainstream discourse. Participants were engaged in discussions, interactive activities, and critical analysis of literary works that address these themes. 

The workshop served as a platform for deepening their understanding of gender representation in literature and the power of storytelling to empower and amplify women's voices. 

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other honourable members of the Managing Committee and the Principal of the college Prof.Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated the Department of English for successfully organising the workshop to develop a critical insight in students for the women's cause.
