Workshop on ‘Career Options in BFSI Industry’
PG Department of Commerce and Management of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar holds Workshop on ‘Career Options in BFSI Industry’.
Jalandhar, November 30, 2023: PG Department of Commerce and Management organized a workshop on the topic ‘Career Options in BFSI Industry’. The resource person of the day was Kanwaljit Singh, Founder and CEO at Proftrain Mentors and the Lead Trainer of CPBFI-CSR initiative of Bajaj Finserv Ltd.
The workshop initiated with a formal welcome by Shikha Puri, Dean, Commerce Club. Kanwaljit talked about the dynamics of the job market and highlighted the importance of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) in the years to come. He held that as technology is taking over the operations, customer retention is becoming a challenge. So, students must acquire the skills required to serve the BFSI Sector. He explained about the Certificate Program in Banking, Finance and Insurance (CPBFI) by Bajaj Finserv, which can be a game changer for the students. It is a core component of Bajaj Finserv’s employability initiative, aimed at making graduates employable for banking, financial services and insurance industry. He discussed that, there are six skills needed in BFSI, which include, understanding of industry, effective communication skills, confidence, practical exposure and understanding of products. There is a huge gap between demand and supply in the job market, meaning, that the jobs are plenty but there is paucity of skilled people as only 5% of people are employable so, the students must groom themselves through proper training. CPBFI is a customized program for a person who is looking for a career opportunity in BFSI Sector.
The whole session gave a comprehensive overview about the skill sets required to be a part of BFSI Sector and the associated program CPBFI. Around 60 students of B. Com Semester V, B. Com (FS) Semester V, M.Com Semester I and M.Com Semester III and faculty members of PG Department of Commerce and Management attended the program. It was a knowledgeable session that gave guidance and deep insights about their career choices that will help students excel in their lives and attain their goals.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Prof.(Dr.) Pooja Prashar appreciated the efforts of the department.
