Workshop on Continental Cuisine for GGNIMT Hospitality Students

Ludhiana, March 29, 2025: Department of Hotel Management, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi, Ludhiana organized a Culinary Workshop for their students. Chef Vanshika Jairath, Head Chef, Under the Mango Tree, Ludhiana conducted this workshop. Around 40 students from BHMCT, 6th Semester of Hotel Management Department attended this workshop. Chef Vanshika demonstrated and prepared Butter Garlic Prawns, Hot Honey Chicken Wings with Sour Cream Dip, Herb Infused Potato Wedges with Garlic Aioli during the workshop. Chef Vanshika with extensive global experience emphasised that cooking fosters a happy mood by promoting mindfulness, creativity, and a sense of accomplishment, besides the satisfaction of creating a delicious menu. She also briefed the students about emulsification process and the skill of maintaining sodium levels during food preparation. She also highlighted the importance of presentation and plating, as an attractive visual spread invites a guest to appreciate and relish the hospitality experience.

 

Jashandeep Singh, a hotel management student from 6th semester felt, this workshop helped him appreciate the nuances of continental cuisine and there was a lot of learning beyond just reading recipes and offering standard fare to the diners. Another student, Ankush from 6th semester, BHMCT was amazed to learn the art of cooking international dishes. Other students also found the workshop extremely informative and engaging.  Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT, expressed his gratitude to Chef Vanshika Jairath for her invaluable contribution, as the workshop was a great platform for the students of GGNIMT to learn international cuisine.  Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT said that the students were enthusiastic about the workshop and appreciated the opportunity given to students to learn from an experienced chef with Global exposure. Prof. Shantimani Sathwara, Head HMCT reaffirmed the commitment of GGNIMT to provide its students with  industry relevant professional education.
